Opening TimesThe Nursery is open to the public on Saturdays and Sundays and bank holidays in May between 12 and 4pm or at other times when the gate is open. About the NurseryA small independent nursery situated on Carlton Lane, East Carlton between Guiseley and Yeadon close to Leeds Bradford Airport. It is set in open countryside at an altitude of 220m with far reaching views of both the landscape and planes taking off and landing. Started in December 2004 on the site of a previous nursery business. The site consists of about an acre of land with two polytunnels and a shade tunnel. When the site was acquired is was rather overgrown and in need of quite a bit of work. Initially a limited amount of site clearance occurred in order to grow and sell something. So in 2005 I concentrated on summer bedding plants and hanging baskets only. In early 2006 a portacabin was acquired to use as a shop/office (and somewhere to have a cuppa when the weather is less than kind!) Further development and site clearance is ongoing including development of a garden on the site to demonstrate planting ideas and what the plants will look like when fully grown but also just for people to enjoy visiting. The aim is to develop a good range of interesting hardy and tender perennials, shrubs, hardy ornamental grasses and herbs and vegetables (See the developments in pictures). At present the nursery is only run on a part time basis as I still have an almost full time job in the NHS. In 2006 I attained my National Certificate in Horticulture at Askham Bryan College and in April this year I have just passed a NCFE Garden Design course. Please visit and see what is happening and perhaps pick up lovely new addition to your garden!
